Suitable for all dance levels, and all BD styles.
This workshop will cover drawing inspiration from non-dance
resources... Specifically vintage horror films. Students will learn
vampy poses, billowy driftings, sinister elevation changes and short
combos that can easily be translated to tribal or cabaret BD.
Students should bring a sheer veil to this class, although we won't be
doing a veil routine. Learn how to "drain the
life" out of each move, casting a dark
spell on your audience!

Texturize!
Amirah
uses her experience as a musician to you tips on musicality and ways to
interpret some o the new sounds and rhythms used in modern belly dance
music. In this workshop, Amirah will focus on concepts of muscle control
for both clean and sharp movements, as well as the gooey slow movements.
She will also teach drills for pops, locks, and dime stops, as well as
tips on how to apply these moves to create textures that mimic popular
belly dance music styles and trends. Amirah will finish this workshop
with combinations that can be modified to fit many rhythms and styles of
music.

vs. Egyptian
Sometimes
things which seem incredibly different are really much more closely
related than we ever imagined. Take your Gothic style and apply
seemingly Egyptian concepts to enhance your Gothic performance. Learn a
set of combinations and how to convert them from one style to the next
with ease. Your Gothic style can learn to breathe and take on a life of
it's own through the influences of other, not so Goth, dance styles.

Movements Defined: Isolation Work
Learn
to create those crisp and tidy locks and pops that very much define the
modern forms of belly dance. Work to clearly articulate each movement
through muscle memory and make each movement POP with energy, while
remaining light and effortless. Emphasis will be placed on strengthening
and proper technique in order to create strong isolations. Repetitive
drilling and combinations geared toward popping, locking and ticking
movements will reinforce muscle memory of isolations and create clean
and clear movement separation.
